The Story Ranch was established in 1969. Dr. Eugene and Ann Story purchased the ranch to pursue their love for wine making and the Sierra Foothills.  The Story family is the second owners after the property was Homesteaded at the turn of the 20th century. Story Ranch Vineyards includes some of the oldest zinfandel grapevines in the world, with a recorded plant date of 1905. This has made the Story Ranch Vineyards a staple of the Amador County Zinfandel culture. Dr. Story was an integral key in bringing a name of Amador County Zinfandel to the California wine scene. He establish Story Winery in 1972 to prove the strength of the “big zin.”   

Cheryl Story and Ben Dimson now manage the family-owned property. The next generation of stewards embraces the expansion into additional land uses, Kelly Gardner, Tomas Maloney, Ciro Dimson and Titus Dimson.
